Shortlist Success at Social Mobility Awards

News

Compass Group UK & Ireland has been shortlisted for two awards at this year’s Social Mobility Awards, or SOMOs as they are now known. Compass Chief People Officer, Donna Catley is a Champion of the Year finalist; and the company has also been nominated in the Recruitment Programme of the Year category.

The SOMOs, now in their fifth year, were the first national awards dedicated to social mobility. The awards provide an opportunity to recognise organisations who are making strides and creating initiatives to advance social mobility within their own workforce or beyond their own walls.

The Recruitment Programme of the Year award celebrates organisations that lead the way in recruitment practices and programmes that tackle social mobility issues head on. The Compass-run Gateway to Employment and Kickstart Pre-Employment programmes have been developed with social mobility in mind to assist people who face barriers to employment.

Donna Catley proudly leads the Compass people initiative and has been acknowledged in the shortlist for Champion of the Year. Donna says of the nomination: “It’s an honour to be a finalist in the Champion of the Year category. We have placed social mobility at the heart of our people agenda, believing that everyone deserves an equal chance to succeed. Recognition through award nominations, such as these, is testament to the huge strides we’ve made in the past year and to the incredible work of our teams in Compass.”

The winners will be determined by an independent judging panel, made up of leading figures from business, charity and the public sector, and chaired by Sir Ken Olisa OBE. They will be announced at an awards gala on 14th October 2021.
