Rapport and ComXo call on all organisations to celebrate their telephonists
Rapport Guest Services is once again teaming up with ComXo, the professional service sector switchboard specialist, and calling on all businesses across the country to recognise and thank their telephonists on National Telephonists’ Day, which this year will be celebrated on Wednesday 10th March 2021.
This year’s celebration will be the eighth National Telephonists’ Day and marks the anniversary of the first ever telephone call made by Sir Alexander Graham Bell in 1876.
National Telephonists’ Day was launched in 2014 and each year Rapport and ComXo encourage companies from all organisations to engage with their employees and colleagues and to shine a light on these important individuals who often go unnoticed but who are an integral part of the team.
Since last year’s event on 10th March, we have all been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for adaptability and resilience has never been greater. Throughout this time, professional telephonists across both the public and the private sectors have continued working extremely hard, with the added challenges of working from home or in very different workspaces than they are used to, ensuring that the service they offer is uncompromised and that they are available to assist all callers, including guests, patients, customers, clients or colleagues.
This year it is even more important to appreciate and show gratitude to every telephonist across the country and all organisations are encouraged to highlight and celebrate the valuable contributions that they make.
There are a range of activities which are open to everyone to take part in via the dedicated website, www.nationaltelephonistsday.com. Initiatives include two fantastic competitions with great prizes to be won, such as the ‘Create a telephone-themed mocktail’ competition to soothe tired vocal chords and a retro-themed ‘Create an advert promoting the telephone as a revolutionary communication tool’, a humorous antidote to the video call world we currently live in.
Greg Mace, Founder and Managing Director of Rapport, commented:“We are really looking forward to the eighth National Telephonists’ Day, enabling us to once again raise the profile of professional telephonists across all business sectors.
“This year in particular, it is important we take the opportunity to say thank you and celebrate these vital members of our team who are critical to our continued success. From a personal viewpoint, I am incredibly proud of the professionalism of our switchboard and call services teams, who despite the challenges of COVID-19 have continued to offer a seamless service for our clients. I know that there are many industries across the UK who have relied on their Telephonists to do the same and National Telephonists’ Day is a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on their important work and achievements over the past 12 months.”
Andrew Try, Founder and Managing Director of ComXo commented:“At ComXo we say our telephonists are “the difference that make the difference”. These professionals are the value that sit at the heart of everything we do. Over the last 12 months both at ComXo and across the nation, professional Telephonists have stepped up in difficult circumstances and enabled their businesses to continue to work and function through the lockdown. We are so pleased that after the inauguration of the National Telephonists’ Day eight years ago, we have now reached a real momentum with many businesses participating and celebrating the telephonists, whose hard work and professionalism often goes unrecognised but deserves to be celebrated.”
