New partnership sees Hospitality Path2Apprenticeships launched

News

A partnership with Pathway Group, Department for Work and Pensions Lifetime Training, and HIT Training, has been launched with eleven candidates graduating.

The four-week hospitality pathway to apprenticeship programme was hosted by Compass Group UK & Ireland. The programme took place at Xcelerate with Edgbaston – Compass’ regional community skills and training hub, where the teaching, learning and work experience elements of the programme were taught, in partnership with the Pathway Group, who were the delivery partner.

The innovative programme provides young people with the skills that businesses are actively seeking, ensuring participants are job-ready for a future in the sector.

The first cohort graduated with three of them progressing onto an apprenticeship with Compass Group UK & Ireland. The programme is designed with leading employers, with a focus on the key digital and green skills that are essential for today’s evolving job market.

Funded by West Midlands Combined Authority and delivered by Pathway Group, Path2Apprenticeships is a fully funded short programme designed to help young people start a new, successful career with an apprenticeship. With tailored training and expert support in place - it aims to help with learning soft skills, whilst also preparing them to take on a role that incorporates a level 2 or 3 apprenticeship.

The course guarantees an interview for an apprenticeship upon completion of the programme, with an employer committing to supporting the apprenticeship learning.

Jonathon Foot, Director of Skills and Early Years at Compass Group UK & Ireland commented: “Hearing from the candidates on how the programme has helped them personally and the skills and knowledge they learnt over the last four weeks was truly inspirational. Within Compass we are committed to supporting more people into our industry and helping them develop and thrive. This is the first of many of these programmes and it demonstrates the impact partnerships like this can have on individuals.”

Martin Chandler, Chief Engagement and Enrichment Officer at Pathway Group added:” We are excited to organise and facilitate the Path2Apprenticeships programme, designed to break down barriers for young people and offer them a clear pathway to success in the hospitality industry. Synergy within this collaboration creates a unique opportunity to equip young people with the skills and confidence they need.”

Pauline Jones, MBE, from West Midlands Group Partnership Team commented: “This collaboration is paving the way for the next generation to thrive and providing them with a meaningful career and enriching the industry.”

One of the recent graduates: "It doesn't matter what your educational background is, if you have a dream this would be the best place to be."
