Compass shares Memories and messages to celebrate The Coronation

News

At Compass, so many of our colleagues feel proud and honoured to have met The King and other members of the royal household, through the service we provide at military, sporting and other national events.

We have a great track record of supporting members of the Armed Forces community through our ESS business and strengthened that commitment again recently by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant. We are proud to have so many veterans, reservists, cadets and spouses in our business.

We will be celebrating here on our website to give our people, clients, customers and those in the communities where we live and work, the opportunity to share their stories and recollections of meeting King Charles or simply share their messages of congratulations on this historic occasion.

Bula Xipu, Conference and Events Duty Manager, Levy UK+I, shared his great memory of meeting The King:

“During the Jubilee weekend, we hosted an event called ‘the Big Lunch’ at the Kia Oval. I had the honour of being the person to serve him (King Charles) tea, which at the time seemed like a very normal and easy thing to do, but as the nerves and anxiety kicked in and I had to remind myself to not drop the tray or lose balance. I managed to compose myself and within moments I was back in my area of management carrying on as normal.

"It was only at the end of the day when I received a message from my line manager informing me that I was on the Daily Mail that it really sunk in and I was in the presence of the future King at that time. Purely up there as one of the great moments in my career and even though the day was a success all round and enjoyed by all, I could take a little bit of bragging rights for the day. Just a little though!”

Mark Webster, Managing Director – Compass One, said:

“Congratulations to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of their Coronation. We are proud to be supporting the event through our Government Services and Defence businesses, as well as hosting celebratory events for many of our customers. We wish The King a long and happy reign and hope that everyone enjoys the bank holiday weekend!”
