Barista Academy: Sziszi Walter

Sziszi was interested in coffee from a young age. Originally from Hungary, she moved to London in 2014 and started her coffee career at a well-known high street brand. This was a good grounding, but the equipment was quite simple. She had caught the coffee bug and wanted to explore the possibilities of a career in hot beverages, so she took the proactive step of moving to an environment where she could be more creative.

In late 2015, Sziszi decided to take a break and returned to Hungary to be with her family. Nearly three years down the line and Sziszi is truly back into coffee! On her return to London she began working in a small independent coffee shop and then saw the chance to work with Compass, at a leading client’s company offices. She is now the star barista in her department and has even created her own signature coffees which customers love.

Sziszi said: “Being one of the members of the first Barista Academy is brilliant and I can’t wait to get started. Coffee is so important in today’s society; as baristas we have the opportunity to brighten the day of our customers with something brilliant.”
