Inspiring young minds with innovative food experiences
Chartwells Independent, our dedicated school and education catering experts, has been delivering world-class catering and housekeeping to the students of St. Faith’s School in Cambridge for over 20 years.
In 2018, when St. Faith’s School entrusted Chartwells Independent once again, we took the opportunity to do things a little differently. Led by Catering Manager Peter Burt and Head Chef Malcolm Wood, our dedicated team blended heritage and creativity to introduce exciting new ingredients and flavours, including innovative plant-forward dishes like smoked cauliflower.
Expanding the palate with food diversity
From southern fried oyster mushrooms to sushi and moules marinieres, our chefs dish up a diverse menu of dishes daily, drawing inspiration from global cuisines to expand students' palates and appreciation for wholesome food. We've also designed a range of low-sugar food concepts, including our popular vegetable-based cakes.
In it for the future
To manage waste more responsibly at this independent school, we recently implemented the innovative technology-led Winnow food waste system - resulting in a remarkable 40% reduction in the first two years alone, equivalent to saving 7,000 meals annually. Always looking to lessen our environmental impact, we strive to provide St. Faith’s School with sustainable dining experiences that embody our forward-thinking, values-driven approach to catering.
