Our Within Network

Embracing Inclusion

Within is a network that embraces and promotes cultural diversity and is comprised of individuals from Compass who collaborate to promote and celebrate inclusion. The members of Within share a common objective of raising awareness about diversity and strive to build a more welcoming and inclusive environment for people.

Through the network, members have the opportunity to connect with others from different cultures and religions, share experiences, and learn from one another. The network's activities include cultural events, training and initiatives aimed at raising awareness and education, with a focus on supporting positive change to ensure equal opportunities for individuals of all ethnicities and backgrounds. The network group focusses on four main objectives:

  • Listen
  • Take a Stand
  • Attract
  • Progress

Within Chair

Ayomide Ajayi, D&I Lead, Levy UK&I, & Within Chair

I am super excited to be taking the position as Chair of Within. Being part of the network for nearly 2 years now, I have seen such a difference in the culture of Compass through the work of the network, raising awareness around different cultures and educating our people on different faiths and beliefs practised around the world.

I am looking forward to driving this network even further and continue to not only act as a role model for others but represent all cultures at every level.

Russell Blake - MD, Healthcare

My first role in Compass Group UK&I was back in 1999 with Eurest where I mobilised and managed a state-of-the-art greenfield site for Computer Associates. I have worked in various roles throughout the business and in 2014, I joined the Healthcare family as Business Director for White Oaks and Medirest Signature. I was promoted to Managing Director of Hospitals and Senior Living in October 2019 and in April 2022, Managing Director of Healthcare.

My goal as the Exec Sponsor is to understand the challenges faced by some in terms of reaching their full career potential. Why don’t we have a better representation across all ethnicities in senior positions across the business? What is preventing this? What cultural changes are required?

By having a more thorough understanding, I hope to make positive steps to support the change required to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities available to them regardless of their ethnicity or background.
