Instore announces Cancer Research UK as its charity partner

Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Instore business has announced Cancer Research UK as its official charity partner, having already raised over £27,000 this year.

Instore provides restaurant and café food services to many of the UK’s most respected retail brands and has raised an impressive £27,500 to support various Cancer Research UK initiatives through a range of fundraising activities. This includes a group of colleagues raising over £2,000 after climbing Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. Other locally planned activities include bake sales, a sponsored silence, and raffles.

The Instore team has pledged to raise a further £22,500 this year through taking part in Stand Up to Cancer in October and through collection goblets which will be placed in Instore cafes throughout the country.

The money raised will be used towards research into more than 200 types of cancers affecting men, women and children.

Andy Rees, Managing Director, Instore, said: “We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Cancer Research UK and it is great to see so many colleagues from across our Instore business take part in various fundraising activities to raise much needed funds that will hopefully go a long way in the fight against cancer.

“We would also like to pay a special thanks to our colleague, charity champion, Jo Jackson, who has shown a tremendous amount of passion in her charity work for Cancer Research UK over the years and has worked extremely hard to gather support and encourage others to take part in fundraising activities.”

We rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to continue our work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The money raised by Instore will help fund vital research to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

Jo Jackson previously worked for the Instore business at Compass Group UK & Ireland and currently works as a Health and Safety manager for Compass’ Education business Chartwells. Since 2011, Jo has been a charity champion for Compass and has since been fundraising up and down the country for charity. Last year, she was recognised as Cancer Research UK’s Corporate Charity Champion of the Year after helping Compass to raise over £140,000.

Instore has already raised £194,000 for Cancer Research UK since 2009.
