Michael Ladapo, Apprentice Chef for Levy Restaurants UK and Apprentice winner, Compass Chef of the Year competition

Michael has been working for Levy Restaurants UK, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, for seven months and has already showcased his great talents by winning top prize in the apprentice category of the annual Compass Chef of the Year competition.

Michael has always loved food and grew up watching his mum cook. Michael started gaining some experience in the culinary world when working at a kitchen in a leisure centre. This is when he decided to take on an apprenticeship after his friend had introduced him to Compass. He is now in the process of completing a level 2 culinary course.

Since he started working at Compass, Michael has had the opportunity to build his skills in different areas of a busy kitchen with the guidance of his team. He has also been able to showcase his culinary talents by entering the Compass Chef of the Year competition which offers chefs, from across the business and of all levels, a chance to display their passion and skills.

“I haven’t been working at Compass for very long but I have really enjoyed my time here so far. I have had the opportunity to learn many different skills and showcase what I know through the Compass Chef of the Year competition. I was very surprised when I won first place, there was a lot of competition and I knew it was going to be quite tight. I absolutely love being in the kitchen, I love the diversity of ideas, the techniques as well as the joy cooking can bring. I plan on developing my experience to help build my career in the culinary world.”
