News

This week, Compass Group UK & Ireland was crowned the Institute of Hospitality’s (IoH) Gregory De La Pena-Hall MIH Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Employer of the Year 2022 (Large Business).

This award is open to employers across the hospitality, leisure, and tourism sector, with the aim of recognising employers who have shown an outstanding commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and can demonstrate how it has positively impacted the business and wider hospitality industry.

The IoH awards event took place at the Hilton London Bankside, to reward the very best from within the hospitality industry.

Employing tens of thousands of people, Compass has a commitment to enhancing career development at all levels and creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Examples of success include Compass championing apprenticeships and the Kickstart scheme, with a further commitment to launch the Compass Academy, to support skills development.

Compass signed up to the Race at Work charter in 2020 and has been driving this agenda forward with its dedicated D&I networks; Pride in Food, Women in Food, Within and YouMatter, which have hundreds of members that support the inclusivity, awareness and mental health agendas.

Amanda Scott, Director of Talent, DE&I and Learning, Compass Group UK & Ireland commented: “We are a people business and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can be themselves and develop. This is a barrierless industry and we have great examples of people in our company who work their way up and create amazing careers for themselves, learning on the job and progressing. This award is brilliant recognition for the commitment and hard work of everyone in the team, our employee networks, colleagues, and managers across the business.”

Jonathan Foot, Head of Apprenticeships & Early Careers and Fellow of Institute of Hospitality (FIH) commented: “The event was a fantastic evening and we were thrilled to be recognised for our approach to creating prosperous careers, in an inclusive environment. This acknowledgement really means a lot to all of our team.”
