Jen McGroarty
On a day to day basis I look after all HR aspects of our business such as employee relations, personnel logistics, offshore certification and payroll. I also manage a team of five and together we ensure we get the right people in the right place at the right time with the right documentation.
My overall responsibility is to look after our people agenda at ESS Offshore – this can mean anything from helping a team member sort out rotas to ensuring our people are able to mobilise a new contract.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I’ve worked for Compass for seven years now and ESS Offshore for five – I can honestly say that every single day is different. This is a challenging role in an interesting industry and I enjoy the fast paced nature and diversity of the job I’m in.
ESS Offshore is a really close knit team and we always pull out all the stops to get results - we work well together and we’re really dedicated. Although it feels like we’re a small team, we have the reassurance and support from the wider Compass business too.
There are two that stand out for me – the first is designing and implementing a payroll system that has really helped our team. We created it with the nature of our industry in mind, so it’s pretty much bespoke to our business.
The second is mobilising a new contract in 36 hours at our client’s request! This involved getting a team together for a unit in Denmark… not only did we have to identify our team of trained professionals, but we then had to brief them, organise flights, hotels and get them onsite which was offshore!
